“I’m convinced of it. We’re going to build hotels. Because hotels are where life happens—all of life. Announcements of new births, heartbreaks. Door handles that hide surprise birthday parties, handshakes that seal a deal. Heated debates, secretive whispers. In the hallways, on the sofas, at the bar, big ideas are discussed without ever seeing the light of day, and other small ideas are born to revolutionize the world. Here, we share an ice cream with the kids in the late afternoon, a starry evening with a loved one or the family, knowing winks, words scribbled on the corner of a table, a quick sketch of all of Paris, a take on swing. In hotels, there are a thousand human stories. Hotels are human stories! That’s why I’ve decided to devote my life to them.”
